No one is free from foot fungus no matter how careful you are. You may be a very clean woman and think that you will never have to go through this hassle, but no one is free from danger. It is possible that with a carelessness in your hygiene you get fungus because you have left it too wet in a warm place, or it is possible that you have been infected in a public place because you have walked barefoot such as a swimming pool or a public bathroom. But what kind of fungus do you get on your feet?
How to classify the types of fungi?
- Many types of fungus are known, but there are a few that can develop on the foot of people. One way to classify the types of fungi is by the method of contagion. The most common route for fungal infection is direct invasion of tissues – mycoses – of the skin. Any area of the skin can be affected, but the foot area is usually the most frequent. But there are methods of contagion that must be taken into account to be able to classify them and also avoid and prevent them in the future: by contagion by using public facilities without precaution, contact with animals and people who can infect the fungus, by doing sports activities that facilitate the warm and humid area on the feet, etc.
- Another way to classify foot fungus is by the type of fungus found on the skin. In this way, you will know better how to treat it and how to find a solution to avoid discomfort as soon as possible. Fungus infection on the feet can be caused by a contagion directly on the superficial part of the skin such as tinea pedis or athlete’s foot infection that can present itself in different ways – blisters, peeling, itching, redness of the foot, etc. – or also a fungal infection in the toenails – onychomycosis- which, in addition to being difficult to cure, can spread through the foot if it is not treated in time. Both fungi are caused by invading parasitic-type organisms called dermatophytes
