Everyone sweats when it’s hot, but some people sweat more than others. The same happens with the feet, there are people who may have excessive sweating in this area of the body, becoming annoying for the person who suffers from it. Who likes to feel how their feet are slippery because of sweat? If you are a person with sweaty feet, it is more than likely that you seek remedies such as washing your feet every day or using specialized powders so that your feet stop sweating and smell less.
But why do feet sweat? As with any discomfort that may occur in your body, it is necessary to know why your feet sweat and thus find the solution that is most suitable for you and your feet.
Sweating feet and its reasons
- The feet are a part of the body with a high concentration of sweat glands and also, since they are enclosed with shoes and socks for almost the whole year -except in summer when you will surely wear less closed shoes- they sweat more. The combination of these factors will lead to increased sweating in this area of the body and it is totally normal, so if your feet sweat from having them closed with socks and shoes, there should not be any problem.
- Instead, in some people the amount of sweating on the feet can be really excessive. For example, if you are a person who, even though you shower every day, needs to change your socks throughout the day because they get soaked with sweat, then you may have a condition known as hyperhidrosis.
- Hyperhidrosis is a condition that you can have due to genetics with overactive sweat glands. In addition to the feet, this condition also often affects the palms of the hands and the armpits. It’s nothing serious but it can be really annoying. If you think you may have this condition, you will have to see your doctor to make an assessment and start treatment.
